PH EMBASSY IN DHAKA HOLDS ‘CINEPHILE: FILM FRIDAYS’
17 April 2018, DHAKA – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh organized “cinePHILe: Film Fridays,” a film showing of Filipino movies in commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan. Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo delivered his opening remarks during the film showing. CinePHILe, with the approval of the producers of Articulo Uno through the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), featured Jerrog Tarog’s “Heneral Luna” in Ascott Palace, Baridhara Diplomatic Area, Dhaka on 13 April. The film showing was intended to promote awareness of the rich and vibrant history and tradition of the Philippines. It was attended by members of the Filipino community, the ASEAN diplomatic corps and Bangladeshis from the business and private sectors.END.

Filipino leaders in Sri Lanka met with Dhaka PE’s Third Secretary and Vice-Consul Ms. LV de Guzman (seated, second from left), and Philippine Honorary Consul in Sri Lanka Mr. Hugh Sriyal Dissanayake (seated, third from left). The Filipino Community leaders were represented by their respective accredited organizations’ Presidents, Ms. Josephine S. Poole of the Association of Filipinos in Sri Lanka (seated, leftmost) and Ms. Aileen Arellano-de Sylva of the Philippine Ladies Association (seated, rightmost).
10 April 2018 DHAKA — The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, represented by Third Secretary Ms. LV de Guzman, met with Filipino Community leaders in Colombo, Sri Lanka at the Global Towers Hotel in Colombo on March 17 to discuss collaborations on information campaigns, outreach missions, and possible collaborative projects promoting Philippine culture in Sri Lanka.

PHL EMBASSY IN BANGLADESH CONDUCTS 1ST CONSULAR MOBILE MISSION, OVERSEAS VOTERS REGISTRATION IN SRI LANKA FOR 2018

22 March 2018 DHAKA – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh conducted its first Mobile Consular Mission in Sri Lanka at the Global Towers Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 17-18 March. Third Secretary and Vice-Consul LV I. De Guzman led the mobile consular team in processing a total of 139 consular transactions such as passport renewals, passport validity extensions, and civil registrations.
Applications for the registration of overseas absentee voters for the 2019 Philippine Senatorial Elections as well as requests for reactivation of overseas voting records and transfer of records from the Philippines and other Foreign Service Posts were also processed by the team during the said mission. 22 March 2018 DHAKA – The Philippine Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, represented by Third Secretary Ms. LV de Guzman and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) assistant Ms. Joany Margallo-Lucas, called on Sri Lanka’s Commissioner of Labour Mr. J. Paranamana and other officials of the Sri Lanka Labour Department on March 13.
The meeting tackled Sri Lankan laws that can promote welfare and rights of foreign workers in Sri Lanka and the procedures that should be followed when disputes arise between employer and employee. END.
