The Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Philippine National Artist for Literature, Mr. Bienvenido Lumbera.
Mr. Lumbera spent his decades-long career in writing several literary works in English and in Filipino. He began by releasing his poetry collection in 1933.
Throughout the years, Mr. Lumbera has received numerous awards, including the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts in 1993, the Gawad CCP, Gawad Pambansang Alagad ni Balagtas, Manila Critics’ Circle, and the Palanca Awards. He was conferred with the title of National Artist for Literature in 2006.
