As part of the Philippine’s Embassy’s efforts to reach out to well-known Bangladeshi artists, Ambassador Alan L. Deniega met today with Ms. Pooja Sengupta, Artistic Director of the Turongomi Repertory Dance Theatre, who specializes in blending contemporary moves with classical dance in her choreography.
During the call, Ambassador Deniega thanked Ms. Pooja for participating in the cultural events of the Embassy. She shared her past performances in various places in the Philippines, such as in Dumaguete, in Roxas City, and in Manila, which led to her awareness of the places named after the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, and which, in turn, sparked her curiosity about the life of the Filipino patriot.
Ambassador Deniega said that he looks forward to more collaboration with Ms. Pooja in the future, and between Bangladeshi and Filipino
artists.

In celebration of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month or MANA Mo, the Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Bangladesh organized the activity “Life Below Water: A Clay Workshop for Marine Environment Protection” on 18 September 2021.
The clay workshop was directed toward Bangladeshi and Filipino children, and their supportive parents.
Ambassador Alan Deniega graced the activity and thanked the participants, saying that he hoped that the workshop has inspired the children to support the protection of sea creatures and the conservation of the marine environment. He also noted that it is important to start such a consciousness among the young.
MANA MO activities have been organized by various Philippine embassies and posts to raise awareness of the vast marine environment of the Philippines, and to enhance the consciousness of the public in protecting marine ecosystems and the life that they sustain.
Apart from the workshop, a short video presentation about the Philippine Rise, a marine protected area in the Philippines, was also shown to the participants before the start of the workshop.
