Dhaka, 07 April 2025 – The Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh, Her Excellency Nina P. Cainglet, met with the Honorable Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus for a courtesy call on 07 April 2025 at the Jamuna State Guest House.

Ambassador Cainglet welcomed the longstanding friendship between the two countries, as the Philippines was one of the first to recognize the independence of Bangladesh, while the Honorable Chief Adviser shared his fondness of the Philippines, including his most recent visit to Manila last year on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of his receipt of the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership in 1984.

Discussions centered on exploring and deepening trade and investments, and direct connectivity for more engagements. The two sides considered opportunities to share best practices in alternative learning systems, technical and vocational training, microfinance, and migration governance, among others.

To take stock of the relations and enhance bilateral cooperation, Ambassador Cainglet conveyed the Philippines’ keenness to host the third Foreign Policy Consultations in Manila this year, where a range of areas of cooperation will be discussed, including pending bilateral agreements.

On regional cooperation, Ambassador Cainglet also noted that the Philippines is sending a delegation during its co-chairing of the ASEAN Regional Forum Inter-Sessional Meeting on Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (ISM on CTTC) in Dhaka on 9-10 April 2025.
