25 October 2022 - In celebration of the Philippines' 2022 Museum and Galleries Month (MGM 2022), personnel of the Philippine Embassy in Bangladesh visited two museums in Dhaka, the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum and the Bangabandhu Military Museum, on 21 October 2022 to leaen more about the political and military history of Bangladesh, as well as to gain more knowledge on the formation of Bangladesh as a nation.

At the Memorial Museum, located in the same house where Bangladesh's Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family were assassinated, the team was welcomed by the Assistant Curator, Ms. Qazi Afrin Jahan. Mr. Md Bachu and Mr. Fahim Shahriar served as the group's guides as they toured the museum. The Philippine Embassy team also toured the extension building beside the museum. The Extension building houses a gallery of photos and memorabilia of the family and journey of Bangabandhu as a significant pillar in the history of Bangladesh.

The tour at the Memorial Museum was followed with an exploration of the Bangabandhu Military Museum. The Philippine Embassy team was welcomed by Lt. Col. Md Alaul Kabir, psc, Sigs, Deputy Director General of the Museum and other military and museum officials. Major Mohammad Sazzad Hossain Bhuiyan, AEC, spearheaded the tour of the museum, and was supported by Major Mohammad Moniruzzaman, Inf Director.

In line with this year's Museum and Galleries Month's theme of "Embracing Uncertainty: Showcasing Solidarity, Hope and Recovery", the Philippine Embassy personnel, through the tour of the said museums, gained a better understanding of the struggles of Bangladesh as it began its formation as a nation and how it was shaped by its culture, and national identity. The tour also helped in the understanding of how museums served as cultural identifiers, aside from being instruments to preserve a collective heritage.
