30 April 2022 - The new set of officers of the Philippine-Bangladesh Association (PBA) took their oath of office in the Philippine Embassy yesterday with Ambassador Alan L. Deniega.
In his remarks, Ambassador Deniega highlighted the thrust of his leadership to focus on the second generation – the children of Filipino-Bangladeshi couples – who are considered to be the bridges of culture between the two countries and an embodiment of the strong and lasting relations between the two countries. He stated that PBA is uniquely placed among members of the Filipino Community in Bangladesh, as the children of the couples comprise the exciting future of Filipino-Bangladeshi relations. He said that the Embassy’s Facebook page and YouTube channel are platforms used not only to promote the Embassy’s activities, but also to reach out and engage this second generation -- some of whom are already participating in the PBA activities.
The new PBA President, Ms. Sheila Cabusao, said that guided by the common goal of helping kababayans and promoting Philippine culture to Bangladesh, she accepts the challenge of leading the organization. She also thanked past and present officers for their example of service, in particular the founder and outgoing President of PBA, Mr. Md. Anisuzzaman, who shared the beginnings of the group.
The new set of PBA officers will serve from 2022-2024.
