In keeping with the Philippine Embassy’s mission of deepening people-to-people exchange and educational ties with the host country, Ambassador Alan L. Deniega welcomed Professor Jude William Genilo, Head of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) to the Chancery.

The only Filipino faculty member of ULAB, Professor Genilo shared his university’s efforts to adapt and innovate amidst the pandemic. He was joined by Dr. Sarkar Quarmal, Ms. Nandita Khan, and Mr. Md. Abdul Kadder of the faculty of the Department of Media Studies. 

Ambassador Deniega conveyed to Prof. Genilo and his ULAB colleagues the line-up of the Embassy’s activities leading up to the 50th anniversary of the Philippines and Bangladesh’s diplomatic relations next year. He underscored the important role of educational institutions like ULAB in fostering not only Philippine expertise and knowledge, but also Philippine culture and heritage, in Bangladesh.
