20 October 2018, Dhaka — “It is not only about painting, it is about discovery,” says seven-year-old Mary Natalee Parantar, perfectly quoting her painting teacher.

Natalee, daughter of a Dhaka-based Filipino couple, is the youngest participant of the recently concluded “Pinta 2018: Ang Galing ng Batang Pinoy, Ipagmalaki Saan Mang Bansa,” a cultural project of the Philippine Embassy in Dhaka aimed at inspiring young minds to discover the Philippines through art.

The 11 participating children aged seven to 14 years old whose parents are either both Filipinos or of Filipinos married to Bangladeshis were mentored by Anacito Guia Caingcoy Jr., a Filipino arts teacher in an international school in Dhaka.

Pinta 2018 ran for two weekends, ending last 19 October 2018 with an exhibit of the children’s paintings at the Chancery. END.
