The Embassy, represented by Third Secretary and Vice Consul Ms. LV I. De Guzman and Attaché Ms. Cathrinne Dimaranan-Gamo, had discussions with BFTA officials Ms. Afsana Mimi (CEO), Mr. Tanveer Hossain (Administrative Officer), and Abdullah Al Mamun (Senior Executive), which explored the possibility of organizing activities that would feature Philippine film and film-makers and highlight the importance of the film industry and film-makers in social and cultural history. BFTA CEO, the renowned and celebrated film actress Afsana Mimi, welcomed the possibility of collaborative projects that would aim to raise awareness within the film circuit in Bangladesh on the history and diversity of Philippine cinema and film-makers, and linking the two film industries (Philippine and Bangladeshi) through coordination and a shared passion in the arts.
The meeting was held as part of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy program focusing on the enhancement of appreciation of Philippine culture in the area of film and film-making among film students, film professionals and film enthusiasts in Bangladesh. END
