Did you know, that when explorers and experts discovered the wreckage of the galleon San Diego near the coasts of Nasugbu, Batangas on 21 April 1991, among the artifacts recovered were parts of Japanese katana swords.

During the time the San Diego sank (14 December 1600) it was engaged in a naval battle with the Dutch warship Mauritius.

Japanese mercenaries were hired to supplement the numbers of the combatants on board the San Diego.
